What are skin tags?
Skin Tags are small soft skin growths that hang off the skin and are connected to underlying skin by a thin stalk.
They are very common, harmless and can vary in colour and side from just a few millimeters to up to 5cm.
What causes skin tags?
Skin tags are not present at birth and there frequency increses with age.Skin tags can be observed in about 50% of adults so are quite common.
Skin tags are believed to develop due to friction between skin or clothing. Common area for skin tags include ( underarms, upper chest, neck, eyelids, and groin folds) although they can occur anywhere on the body,
Can be become more common with pregnant women, and clients with diabetes,or over weight clients, Although skin tags can sometimes be seen in children, they tend to increase with age and are most common in middle-age clients
How can Skin tags be removed?
Skin tags can be removed by a number of ways but the most reccomended way is by cauterization, this process bears the advantage of hygiene.
The cauterization procedure involves using a heated instrument that will come in contact with the skin therefore breaking down the skin cells and cutting off the blood supply, this will ensure that very little damage is inflicted and to allow for faster recovery.
Is it painfull?
No it’s not painfull but you may experince a heat sensation and mild discomfort.
What do I need to do after the treatment?
There is very little post care needed, just keep the area clean and dry for several days.
How many treatments are required?
Most skin tags will resolve in as little as 1 to 2 treatments.
How long does a treatment take?
Depending on the amount of skin tags to be treated, it can take 10 to 30 minutes.
