What is cellulite:
Cellulite is a condition in which the skin has a dimpled, lumpy appearance. It usually affects the buttocks and thighs, but it can occur other areas too.
It happens when fat deposits push through the connective tissue beneath the skin. It is often referred to as having an orange peel appearance.
Cellulite can affect both men and women, but it is more common in females, due to the different distributions of fat, muscle, and connective tissue. Between 80 and 90 percent of women will experience cellulite at some point in their lives.
Causes and risk factors:
The exact cause of cellulite is unknown, but it appears to result from an interaction between the connective tissue in the dermatological layer that lies below the surface of the skin, and the layer of fat that is just below it.
In women, the fat cells and connective tissue in this layer are arranged vertically.
If the fat cells protrude into the layer of skin, this gives the appearance of cellulite.
In men, the tissue has a criss-cross structure, which may explain why are less likely to have cellulite than women.
Some other factors appear to be linked to the chance of having cellulite.
Hormonal factors and age
Hormones that are likely play an important role in cellulite development are estrogen, insulin, noradrenaline, thyroid hormones, and prolactin all play a part of the cellulite production process.
One theory is that as estrogen in women decreases in the approach to menopause blood flow to the connective tissue under the skin also decreases.
Lower circulation means less oxygen in the area, resulting in lower collagen production. Fat cells also become enlarged as estrogen levels fall.
These factors combine to makes the fat deposits more visible. As the fat under the skin protrudes through weakening connective tissue, the familiar dimpling effect results.
Age also causes the skin to become less elastic, thinner, and more likely to sag. This too can increase the chances of cellulite developing.
How long does the treatment take?
Each treatment takes approximately 30 -55 mins depending on the area being treated.
How many sessions do I need?
A recommended treatment course consists of 6 sessions, depending on the skin type and physical characteristics. Your therapist will discuss this with you in more detail at the time of your consultation
Will the cellulite disappear completely?
The treatments are very effective and results are visible from the first treatment, reducing the appearance of cellulite which leaves the skin a smoother appearance. Following completion of the treatment course we will be able to tailor suitable maintenance sessions to target your unique needs.
What does the treatment feel like?
The treatment is simple and comfortable and resemble deep tissue massage combined with suctioning of the skin. A clear gel is applied to the skin during the cavitation part of the treatment. Glycerin oil is applied on the treatment during the Vacuum/Radio Frequency part of the treatment to allow the hand piece to easily travel along the skin in slow concentrated rotations.
Is the treatment safe?
Yes. CVR is a safe, effective and non-invasive treatment with no adverse effects involved.
How does it work?
CVR combines several mechanisms, Cavitation, RF energy and vacuum therapy that work with the body’s natural regeneration processes. Penetrating deep under the skin, the energy targets enlarged fat pockets to reduce fat cell volume and increase the metabolism, the vacuum manipulation increases local blood circulation and lymphatic drainage.
